Printing

Print your diagrams just the way you want them by saving and reusing print configurations. You can specify and see print boundaries on the canvas, selectively print subsets of your file's pages and masters, and maintain multiple configurations in a single file.

Print Setup

Go to File → Print to access the print configuration settings for your RP file.

Scaling

The Scaling tab of the Print dialog provides the following options to scale a diagram to the selected paper size:

  • Full Size: Prints the diagram at its full size, regardless of how many sheets of paper it requires.

  • Scale: Scales the diagram larger or smaller based on the specified percentage.

  • Fit diagram to paper width: Fits the width of a diagram to the width of a single sheet of paper. The diagram may still be several sheets tall.

  • Fit diagram to single sheet: Resizes the diagram proportionally to fit onto a single sheet of paper.

  • Scale to fit printer paper size: (Windows only, not depicted) If the paper size specified in Axure RP doesn't match the size of the paper in your printer, this option scales the selected paper size to fit the physical paper size. (On Mac computers, this option is handled by the operating system's print dialog.)

Paper Size

You can change the selected paper size by clicking Edit next to Paper Size and Settings in the Print dialog or by going to File → Paper Size and Settings.

  • Paper size: Choose from preset paper sizes in the dropdown menu, or choose Custom to enter a custom size.

  • Units: Choose inches or millimeters as the unit of measurement for the paper's width, height, and margins.

  • Orientation: Choose portrait or landscape orientation.

  • Dimensions: Enter the width and height for a custom paper size.

  • Pixel Dimensions: Specify the number of pixels that will fit on each sheet of paper. The aspect ratio will be maintained to match the aspect ratio of the paper size minus the margins.

  • Margins: Specify the top, bottom, left, and right margins.

Pages and Masters

On the Pages and Masters tabs in the Print dialog, choose which pages and masters to include for printing in your configuration.

More Print Configurations

You can save and quickly switch between multiple print configurations in a single RP file. This is useful when you have several configurations you use regularly because it means you don't have to re-specify every setting in the Print dialog each time you want to switch back and forth.

At the top-left of the Print dialog, you'll see the name of your currently selected configuration. Click it to switch to a different configuration or to create a new one. To delete a configuration, select Manage Configurations and then delete the print configuration from the list that appears.

Print Guides

Print guides show the boundaries of your selected paper size on the canvas so that you can organize your diagrams around them when needed. To turn on print guides, right-click on the canvas and choose Rulers, Grid, and Guides → Show Print Guides.
